Your Dad-Approved Guide to Father’s Day at Stanley

Father's Day lands on Sunday, June 21 this year, and if your current plan is a last-minute card and a "happy Father's Day" text at 4 p.m., we love the confidence. But we can do better. Stanley has pretty much everything dad could want under one roof, so the only real question is what kind of dad you're working with. Find him below and you've got the day (or even the weekend) handled.

FOR THE WHISKEY DAD

Mr B's Wine & Spirits kicks off the weekend with a guided whiskey tasting on Friday, June 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Expect a curated lineup of pours and, word is, a few surprises for guests as well. It's friendly and social, so it works just as well for the dad who knows his single malts as the one still figuring out what he likes. Either way, he walks out with a new favorite.

FOR THE FUNNIEST GUY IN THE ROOM

If your dad thinks he's the comedian of the family, show him the real thing. The inaugural Comedy Night at Stanley Beer Hall happens on Sunday, June 21 and brings together some of Denver's best comics, with Janae Burris, Jack Comstock, Ali Kareem, and Jeremy Lomax on the lineup and Justin Deutschmann hosting.

Cover is $10, it's 21+, and the room has 51 self-pour taps. Quick warning: pour-your-own means dad controls the pour size. Good luck.

FOR THE RED ROCKS REGULAR

Spring in Colorado means one thing: Red Rocks is back. The season now runs March through November, and anyone who's hiked into that amphitheater knows the weather can flip between songs. Stop by Aktiv and set dad up for it. Think breathable merino tees that keep him cool in the heat and double as a base layer when the temps drop, a packable wind shell for when the breeze comes at you from every direction at once, and good wool socks for the walk to the seats. Add a sun hoodie or a bucket hat and he's covered from the opener to the encore.

FOR THE BRUNCH LOYALIST

Some dads measure a good day by what they had for breakfast. Point that dad at Denver Biscuit Company, voted Denver's Best Breakfast in 2024 and 2025. Everything here is made from scratch: the biscuits, the gravy, the jam, even the pickles and the local honey butter.

Turns out the more you make from scratch, the bigger the portions get. Hard to have a bad day after that.

FOR THE VINYL DAD

Wax Trax is the rabbit hole. Turn him loose and let him resurface an hour later holding three new records and a grin he's trying to hide.

FOR THE DAD WHO JUST WANTS A COLD ONE AND A GOOD PLATE

Keep it simple. Boychik is giving dads a free tap beer with any entree on Father's Day. Free beer, good food, no catch. Easy yes. Make your reservation today.

FOR THE COMPETITIVE DAD

Book a bay at Local Drive for simulator golf and craft cocktails. He gets to play a "round" without the four-hour commitment or the sunburn, and you get to lose to him in the comfort of air conditioning.

FOR THE DAD WHO’S OVERDUE

Send him to Semion for a haircut and a beard trim. Feeling bold? There's always the option to talk him into a little color. Worst case, it makes a great story.

FOR THE BACKYARD PITMASTER

If your dad runs the smoker every cookout, the kindest thing you can do is take the tongs out of his hands for one day. Order from Rolling Smoke BBQ instead, where everything's slow-smoked over real hardwood and the burnt ends have a cult following. Grab platters and sides to go, or call ahead about catering for the whole crew. He gets all the glory with none of the nine-hour fire to babysit. He'll pretend to be offended. He won't be.

FOR THE DAD WHO’S IMPOSSIBLE TO SHOP FOR

Skip the store and make him something instead. Two spots at Stanley have you covered. At Friends of Friends, drop into their Bedazzle Bar anytime the week of June 14 to 20 and paint your own wooden bottle opener, loaded up with all of dad's favorite things. No reservation needed, just head up to the 2nd floor by the SE entrance.

Looking for something the kids can get their hands dirty with? Friend Assembly is hosting a Family Crafternoon on Saturday, June 6 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., where you and the little ones build a custom clay catch-all tray using textures, stamps, and fingerprint details.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Whiskey, comedy, golf, biscuits, BBQ, a fresh cut, records, and the gear for his next show, all in one spot. Figure out which dad you've got, pick a couple of these, and you've got a day he'll appreciate. He doesn't need another tie. He needs a great day, and Stanley's got it covered.
